The Miss Universe Pageant 2021 is returning again this year virtually.
A press release says the Miss Universe Pageant 2021 competition will be broadcast live from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on May 16.
“We have spent months planning and preparing safety precautions to develop this edition of MISS UNIVERSE—one that will be memorable, special, and totally innovative,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, in a news release. “I look forward to seeing this work come to fruition and crowning a new Miss Universe in May.”

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the pageant was suspended last year. Officials said that the safety protocols entrusted to Seminole Hard Rock’s Safe Sound will be influenced by the 2020 Miss USA competition in Memphis, Tennessee in November.
As stated in the press release, COVID-19 safety rules will include contestants quarantining upon arrival with frequent blood tests before the contest, wearing masks while competing, and social distancing.
Organizers are also considering a modest audience, but tickets and information are available from the end of March. The current miss universe is Zozibini Tunzi, who has held the title since December 2019. She is the first Black woman from South Africa to receive the prestigious title.
The 69th Miss Universe will air in the United States on Telemundo in Spanish from 8-11 p.m. ET, and the English-language broadcasters will be announced in the coming weeks.
